Bulletin and register

The bulletin and the binder register are two distinct outputs that share the same underlying data. The Bulletin Export prepares a formatted listing of upcoming Masses, intentions, and scheduled rites for your weekly parish bulletin. The Binder Register generates the canonical, printable record of every Mass intention — the page-by-page archive you keep in a binder for parish records.

The bulletin and register pages

Both tools live in the Mass Intentions section of the admin sidebar:

  • Bulletin Export — open from Admin Dashboard → Mass Intentions → Bulletin. Use it weekly when preparing the bulletin for print or your website.
  • Register — open from Admin Dashboard → Mass Intentions → Register. Use it whenever new intentions are added or modified, so the binder stays current.

Each page is independent: changes you make to one have no effect on the other.

Bulletin Export

The Bulletin Export tool builds a ready-to-paste listing of Masses, intentions, and scheduled rites for any date range, with formatting controls so the output matches your bulletin's style.

Exporting the weekly bulletin

  1. Go to Admin Dashboard → Mass Intentions → Bulletin.
  2. Choose a Date range — pick This Week, Next Week, This Month, or Custom and set start and end dates.
  3. Choose whether the week starts on Sunday or Monday. This affects the This Week and Next Week presets.
  4. Pick a Location — either a single location or All Locations. Tick Group by location if you want each location's intentions displayed under its own header.
  5. Adjust the Format options — toggle the liturgical feast line, choose how the requester is shown ("by Mary Smith", "(Mary Smith)", or hidden), and pick a time format (12-hour, 24-hour, or with end-time ranges).
  6. Configure the Scheduled lists — choose whether scheduled sacraments and rites appear in their own sections, combined into one list, or interleaved with the Masses. Tick the boxes for Weddings, Baptisms, Funerals, or Quinceaneras to include any of those events.
  7. The preview on the right updates as you change settings, showing exactly what the export will contain.

Choosing an export format

Once the preview looks right, use the buttons at the top of the preview card to export:

  • Copy — copies the formatted bulletin to your clipboard as both rich text and plain text. Paste it directly into your bulletin software.
  • Text — downloads a plain-text .txt file with no formatting.
  • MD — downloads a Markdown file, useful if your bulletin pipeline accepts Markdown.
  • Word — downloads a .docx file you can open in Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

When you have Group by location enabled and more than one location is shown, a carousel lets you preview each location separately and an Export all locations checkbox controls whether the export contains every location or just the one currently shown.

tip

Your bulletin settings are saved in your browser, so the next time you open the page everything is configured the way you left it. The settings live with your account on this device — if you log in elsewhere you may need to set them again.

What the bulletin contains

For the date range you choose, the bulletin includes:

  • Mass times with their celebrants and intentions, grouped by day.
  • The liturgical feast or memorial of the day (when enabled).
  • Reserved Masses where intention details are not yet entered, shown with a placeholder.
  • Scheduled sacraments and rites — weddings, baptisms, funerals, and quinceaneras — for any categories you have enabled.

Masses without an intention are noted as such, and intentions whose details should not be made public (because the requester opted for privacy) appear without identifying text.

Binder Register

The binder register is the canonical, printable record of every Mass and intention at your parish, organized by week. It is the archival document you keep in a binder for parish records and is required by Canon Law as the long-term register of intentions.

Viewing register pages

  1. Go to Admin Dashboard → Mass Intentions → Register.
  2. Choose a Location — either a single location or All Locations.
  3. Choose the Language the page should be printed in (English or Spanish).
  4. Set Week starts to Sunday or Monday to match how your binder is organized.
  5. Choose a From and To date. The page lists every register week in that range.

Each row in the table shows one week's register page with its Week Start date, current Status, when it was last printed, and who printed it. The status is one of:

  • Never Printed — no version of this page has been printed yet.
  • Printed — the latest version has been printed and is up to date.
  • Needs Print — the page has been printed, but Masses or intentions have changed since, so the binder copy is out of date.

A summary above the table shows totals for the visible range. If pages outside your current date window also need printing, an amber notice appears with shortcut buttons to Show Past Updates or Show Future Updates, which expand the date range to include them.

Printing for the binder

You have three ways to print register pages:

  • Print Updates — generates a packet containing only pages whose status is Needs Print. This is the routine workflow when intentions change during the week.
  • Print Selected — tick the checkboxes next to one or more rows, then click Print Selected to print exactly those pages.
  • Print All — prints every page in the visible date range, regardless of status. Use this when setting up a new binder or replacing a section.

The Include Cover Sheet checkbox controls whether the packet starts with a summary cover sheet listing the pages contained inside. Each print produces a single PDF file you can send to your printer.

After printing, Sacramentum updates each page's status to Printed and records who triggered the print job. The PDF is also saved so you can re-download it later.

warning

Print updates promptly when intentions change. Once you print a page, that PDF becomes the baseline for the Needs Print status — printing a stale copy and not reprinting later means the binder no longer reflects the current intentions.

Reviewing what changed

When a page is marked Needs Print, you can see exactly what changed before reprinting.

  1. Click the information icon (i) on the row.
  2. The What Changed dialog opens, listing every Mass or intention added, removed, or modified since the last print, with the previous and current values for each field that changed.

This is useful when you want to confirm the diff is expected — for example, an intention was reassigned or an offering amount was corrected.

Snapshot history and audit trail

Every time a page is printed, Sacramentum saves a snapshot of the PDF along with the timestamp, the user who triggered the print, and a content hash. This gives you a permanent audit trail of how the register has evolved.

  • Click the History icon on a row to see every saved snapshot for that page, with download links to each archived PDF.
  • Click the History button at the top of the page to review recent print jobs across the whole location, including who ran them, which mode they used (updates, selected, or all), and how many pages each job contained.
info

The binder register is the long-term canonical record of Mass intentions. The bulletin is for parishioner communication; the register is for parish records. Keep both up to date.

Recomputing page states

If you suspect a page's status is out of sync — for example, after a bulk import or data fix — click Recompute to ask Sacramentum to re-evaluate every page in the current date range against the latest data. This updates the Needs Print flags without printing anything.

You can also click the Eye icon on any row to preview that page's PDF in a new tab without printing it.
