Claiming Available Intentions

The Available to Claim section shows Mass intentions that have not yet been assigned to any priest. You can browse these intentions and voluntarily claim the ones you would like to celebrate, helping distribute the workload across the parish's clergy.

What appears here

Two kinds of intentions appear in this list:

  • Pending (Unscheduled) — intentions submitted by parishioners that have not been assigned to a priest or scheduled to a Mass
  • Scheduled (TBD Priest) — intentions already linked to a public Mass event, but where the celebrant has not been determined

An information card at the top of the page explains this: intentions listed here are waiting for a priest to take responsibility. Click Assign to Me to claim one.

Filtering the list

Use the inline filters to narrow what you see:

Status — choose between All Available, Pending (Unscheduled), or Scheduled (TBD Priest).

Rite — if the Extraordinary Form is enabled at your parish, filter by All, No Preference, Ordinary, or Extraordinary.

Date range — set a start and end date to focus on a specific period.

Table columns

Each row shows the same core information as the My Mass Intentions table:

Claiming an intention

When you find an intention you would like to celebrate:

  1. Click Assign to Me on the intention row.
  2. The intention is assigned to you and removed from the available list.
  3. A confirmation dialog appears with the heading Intention Assigned and three options for what to do next.

After claiming, you can choose:

  • Schedule to Public Mass — assign the intention to one of your upcoming Masses right away
  • Schedule Private Mass — set a date, time, and location for a private celebration
  • Done (Schedule Later) — close the dialog and schedule the intention later from your My Mass Intentions list
Claim and schedule in one step

If you already know which Mass you want to celebrate the intention at, choose Schedule to Public Mass from the post-assignment dialog to complete both steps without leaving the page.

Celebrant conflict detection

When you claim an intention that is linked to a public Mass, Sacramentum checks whether you are already assigned as celebrant for another Mass at the same time. If a conflict is found, the intention is still assigned to you, but you are not automatically added as celebrant for that Mass. A notification explains that the existing celebrant assignment remains unchanged.

Contact your parish administrator if the celebrant assignment needs to be updated.
